Description: Mátyás' brothers considered him the head of the Habsburg dynasty from 1606, after Rudolf's illness took over. In 1608, in Bratislava, he was crowned king of Hungary with the holy crown. This is when the red-white-green Hungarian national color decorations are mentioned for the first time. During his reign, he was constantly in conflict with the Principality of Transylvania. At the Linz meeting in 1614, he asked the Austrian orders for money to fight against Gábor Bethlen. However, he was forced to settle with the prince and recognize the right of Transylvania to elect a prince. In return, Bethlen acknowledged that it belonged to the Hungarian crown. II. Mátyás again turned against Bethlen in 1616, but he quickly failed, and the Transylvanian armies ravaged Upper Hungary. II. Mátyás married quite late and had no children, so he made his nephew, Archduke Ferdinand, his successor. The original coin of 10 ducats of gold was minted by the so-called "Three Emperors" thaler, on which the busts of Miksa I, Károly V and Ferdinand I appear.
